well hello there

it's been a long time since I've seen my own blog--I think they're rather silly, or at least silly for me, since I don't ever have anything important to say, and I don't think anyone really reads this. So maybe I'm talking to myself, maybe not. But one of my best friends is in Ireland right now serving God and I am trying to figure out a way to follow her blog.

also, the clouds are beautiful today. you should look out the window.

the weaker sex

I suppose all those who fought for gender equality would despise my saying this but-I will anyway. I really do hate feminism. Or gender equality, what ever you will call it. I would have no problem giving up my right to vote, become a doctor, president or whatnot. In fact, can't we just go back to wearing dresses and drinking tea; leaving the burdens to the males in our lives?

I think that would be quite desirable.

Just arrived at Smith Moutain Lake...I though I hated nature (I have poison something or other again) but then I see lake and I feel like Pocahontas.

I just watched a Veggie Tales movie with Aidan and Briant about Joseph and the Coat of Many colors--it is definitely my new favorite Bible story.

Sorry if this post bores anyone--my cousin is watching me type this :)

?

spontaneity (n.): 1. my mind's arch enemy. 2. a frequent occurrence in my life

also, I think I'm going crazy. I was so sure that I put my paycheck in my purse,  when  actually, I threw it in the rubbish bin. And in K-Mart I swore I heard someone fiercely whisper "Krista!" in my ear.

when traveling abroad one starts to appreciate their own country more each minute that they are in a foreign land.  it's true, you know.

here's what I learned in paris:

1) Almost everybody speaks English. I don't know why they'd want to, because French is so much prettier. So the language barrier was non-existent. (But God forbid I pronounce something incorrectly in their language)

2) Metros give you the strangest desire for a bath.

3) people there don't appreciate the churches from 1066 that they walk past on their way to work every day.

4) france turns out some amazing artists

5) I wish I were still there

there's no reason to sleep
curled up and bent
it's not comfortable
it's not good for you and it
doesn't protect you from danger
if you're worried about an attack
you should stay awake
or sleep lightly with
limbs unfurled for action

I'm leaving for Paris tomorrow and am suddenly struck with the realization that I SPEAK NO FRENCH! Alright, I can say "Hello! Goodbye!" "I would like beef!"

and thats it.

this is the first european travel I will encounter where no one in my family speaks the language...and it's a bit frightening.
